Perquimans Weather
  • The current favorite walking trail for both visitors and residents alike (which is handicapped-accessible) is located on the property of the state-owned Newbold-White House Historic & Natural site, two miles southeast of the Town of Hertford. Bounded on the east by the Perquimans River, the trail is a .5 mile loop beginning in the parking lot of the Newbold-White House and proceeding east to a wooden boardwalk and boat dock overlooking a beautiful woodland and river marsh on the banks of the Perquimans. After you´ve walked the trail, you can visit the Newbold-White House. Built in 1730, it is the oldest house in the state that is open to the public on a regular basis. Coming soon....the Perquimans County Blueways/Greenways initiative is planning a walking trail which will begin in downtown Hertford and continue parallel to Harvey Point Road south to the Perquimans County Commerce Center, approximately 1.2 miles.
  • Another favorite walking trail for both visitors and residents alike is located at the Perquimans County Recreational Center, one mile southeast of the Town of Hertford on Harvey Point Road. Bounded on the east by the Perquimans River, the trail has a hard surface and is a .9 mile loop beginning in the parking lot of the Recreational Center and proceeding around the complex. At the back of the Recreational Center the trail divides into two trails. One trail goes through the woods on a dirt path and the other trail continues around the ball fields on a hard surface. The dirt trail will then join back up with the main trail just behind the ball fields.
  • There is another walking trail in downtown Hertford called "The Walking Tour of Historic Hertford". For more details click here.
